STAY SAFE, STAY SECURE – CRIME PREVENTION TIPS WITH SLPD:  WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9TH @ 7:00 P.M.  (via Zoom – link emailed to BOVIA members).  Don’t miss our first crime prevention zoom meeting with our San Leandro Police Detectives this year.  Although our Bay-O-Vista community is relatively safe, we have had a few break-ins this year.  

GARDEN CLUB MEETING:  THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH @ 7:00 P.M. (via Zoom – link will be emailed to interested parties).  These are monthly meetings to discuss gardening issues, tips and challenges. We also plan Garden Tours in Bay-O-Vista. It is a wonderful way to meet people in our community who have a wealth of knowledge and love to garden. 2026 RIDES AND READERS 5TH ANNUAL CAR SHOW:  SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH FROM 9:00 A.M. TO 1:00 P.M. at the San Leandro Main Library – 300 Estudillo Avenue.  Enjoy classic and vintage cars (especially a few from our own Bay-O-Vista residents), explore library resources, and take part in this fun community event. Admission is free for all spectators.

MEET THE CANDIDATES FOR SAN LEANDRO MAYOR:  WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH @ 7:00 P.M.  (via Zoom – link with be mailed to all BOVIA members).  This is a special meeting to learn more about the two candidates running for Mayor of San Leandro and hear directly from them as to their priorities for our City, etc. and have a chance to ask questions.

BOVIA BOOK CLUB:  TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6TH @ 7:00 P.M. (via Zoom – link will be emailed to interested parties). The book we are reading is “The Women of Platform Two” by Laura Anthony.  In summary, the book is:

An inspiring novel about the liberating paths blazed by Irish women” (Kirkus Reviews) and how much farther we still have to go.  The Women on Platform Two bridges 1969 and 2023 as a chance meeting at Dublin’s Connolly Station draws nurse Saoirse into Maura’s memories of love turned violent, an unlikely bond with spirited Bernie, and their quiet defiance in a country where contraception was outlawed.

NEW – BOVIA Women’s Walking Group – Come join every Monday and Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. (weather permitting) for a brisk walk around our Bay-O-Vista neighborhood.  The Group meets at the intersection of Longview Drive and Skyview Drive as the starting point.  Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriate for the weather.
