BOVIA hosted a Driveway Barbeque Social at the home of Garry Offenberg and Teri Schlesinger on Saturday, July 11th to thank all those who signed and helped with the petition for Citizens for A Safe and Vibrant San Leandro.  It was a great event with a large turnout!  We were honored with the presence of several public officials including Mayor Juan Gonzalez III and his wife Evelyn, Council Member (District 1) and Vice Mayor, Sbeydeh Viveros-Walton, and East Bay Municipal Utility District Board of Directors Member April Chan.  

Barbequed hot dogs, sausages, salad, chips, sodas and cookies were enjoyed by all, along with a warm summer evening.  To top it off, wonderful live music was provided by The Wakefield Jazz Sextet including our own Bay-O-Vista resident, Peter Greenstein (flute, baritone and tenor saxophones) accompanied by Ed Elliot (bass guitar and vocals), Dick Lyons (guitar) and Mike Wang (vocals).
